Tekst achterflap

Jesse's teacher has set their class a history project - they can research any topic they like, they just have to investigate something that matters to them. The only problem is, Jesse can't think of anything...

Until they stumble upon their cousin's old diary in a dusty attic. Lisa was a teenager in the 1980s, and from the hearts doodled around a girl's name on the cover, it seems she was LGBT, just like Jesse, who's recently come out as non-binary.

In Lisa's diary, Jesse learns about Section 28, a law which banned people from talking about being LGBT at school. It's the perfect topic for their project, and as they read more, Jesse uncovers shocking revelations in the history of LGBT rights, and the history of their own family.

When the school project is cancelled, Jesse knows what they've learned is too important not to share. With friends old and new, Jesse must find their own way to shine a spotlight on a history that mustn't be forgotten.
